Hello my dears!

I’ve been to a lot of book releases and signings and launch parties and general “yay, a new book exists, and here is the person who created it!” events. In a sea of awkward Q&As, nervously read excerpts, and under-lit slide shows, It’s rare that I see something new. But there is surprise left in the world! I went to see my agency buddy Tiffany Schmidt in her Boldly Bookish tour. Tiffany is debuting the second book in her Once Upon A Crime series, where she transplants fairy tale plotlines into a crime family setting, but she wasn’t doing it alone; she teamed up with Jennifer Lynn Barnes and Tara Altebrando.

I love the idea of sharing something so potentially lonesome and grueling as a book tour with friends. I also enjoyed the game they played; they swapped books and then audience members called out random page numbers, and everybody read a single sentence from the book in front of them. I came away with a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm for work I wasn’t familiar with – it was a book tour and a reading list all in one. A+ job, ladies.
