Hello my dears!
Another crazed week, another delayed but by golly here it is page. Just drawing all this snow provoked Portland into yet another ice capade; maybe I should do a Family Man AU set in Maui?
My recommended reading for you this week! Sarah Winifred Searle has a remarkable, brave, heartbreaking essay about weight, health, and self-acceptance up at the Nib.Â
You live in Portland? I didn’t realize! I just moved here last fall, I can’t believe how paralyzed the city is in the snow. Personally, I’m grateful for the ice, because it meant I was only a work for about 3 hours today.
This is a nice little exchange. Very natural, and it had me looking up what thalers and guldens were. Totally unrelated, but I was just looking at pg. 432 and really appreciating the 4th panel for the first time. Over the last couple scenes you’ve done an excellent job portraying the silence, darkness, and chill of a winter night.
Since we get snow so rarely (and since it sticks around for such a short time compared to other regions), major investment in snow infrastructure isn’t a priority! I grew up in Seattle, which has a very similar “chicken with its head cut off” approach to snow days. ;)
And thank you for the kind words! I’m glad you’re enjoying the pages.
