Hello my dears! It’s an update week, hurray hurray!

Currently on my reading table is a really spectacular work of common history: Eamon Duffy’s book The Stripping of the Altars: Traditional Religion in England, 1400-1580. This doorstop-sized book contains chapters on different aspects of how Christian practice manifested in the lives of ordinary people living in England leading up to the Reformation. Local saint cults and quasi-pagan traditions, the increasing spread of literacy and the availability religious literature in English, changes in how often people took Communion or confessed, and the ambitious piety of middle-class diarist Margery Kempe.

If you are into that kind of thing, it will be your kind of thing, and I recommend it highly!
