Well this is gonna get interesting.

I had the luck to catch Jillian Tamaki at a local signing and pick up fresh copies of her former webcomic Supermutant Magic Academy and recently released YA graphic novel This One Summer (co-created with her cousin Mariko Tamaki). Both books are just heartbreakingly smart, cynical, sweet, weird, and beautiful. I had a hard time drawing this week’s page because I felt a little cowed by the experience of reading both books in one week, like oh no, comics cannot be better than that, time to give it up and become an x-ray technician.

Regardless of personal risk, I advice you to hunt those books down! If you live in Toronto, Jillian will be at TCAF this weekend!
