I am back! And so are the questionable parental decisions of the Nolte family. Thank you all for your kind words last week.
You are all at this point familiar with Kickstarter (and IndieGoGo); a few other models for supporting independent artists have been cropping up, and this month Patreon, which allows creators to collect small donations on a regular schedule from fans in exchange for posting content,  garnered some great new creators for its talent roster. Go check out the support-worthy work of grade-A creators like Erika Moen, Meredith Gran, Jake Richmond, or game creator Porpentine!
I like the Patreon model a lot – it’s not purely product focused like Kickstarter – and might use it for this comic one of these days to mitigate my need to take on freelance work, so if you like it (or hate it) tell me what you think!
I support Paul Taylor’s comic Wapsi Square via Patreon, and I would definitely contribute to Family Man if it enabled you to update more frequently. I love this story and am eager to see it develop!
Whoa, you’re thinking of getting a Patreon account? I would be all over that. Like white on rice. If you get one, be sure to leave a notice in the posts so I can!
I love it. So far it has been working great for me. It looks like a wonderful way to support artists whose work I have been reading for free far too long. Uh, um, including you…
