My best entertainment this week (a tax-filing, flu-ridden January slog that definitely needed some uplift) came from getting early backer access to the first half of Broken Age, the new adventure game out from Double Fine. I enjoy adventure games because of their focus on story and character, and de-emphasis on reflex tests and ticking clocks.

This one is particularly beautiful, and the story so far is sweet and dark and weird and silly. I played through with nothing but the touchpad on my laptop, through my Steam account (free!). The game opens up to the public on the 28th of this month, but you can pre-order it now.
