Happy Thanksgiving week to my fellow Americans; I recommend this unlikely vegetarian gravy recipe, which has beaten out meat gravies (even amongst committed carnivores) every year at the table since I started making it. It is terrible for you, and thank goodness for that.
Likewise, happy Diwali to my Hindu readers – I had fun doing a little celebratory illustration of Lakshmi last week for my goddess series. I’m always looking for cool goddess suggestions, by the way, especially from outside of Europe or from more obscure traditions; hit me up in comments if you have any favorites you’d like to see!

Diwali has become a pan-religious festival for south Asians, I understand. Certainly the Sikhs in my neck of the woods celebrate it with zest!
Even though she’s from a European tradition, Baba Yaga might be interesting to do. She’s certainly not your typical pretty goddess…
