Traditional Rom marriages are a big deal; they bind large families together across large amounts of time and space. They also give everybody a reason to meet up and throw some really spectacular parties.  Unlike in a lot of other cultures, where the bride’s family pays a dowry to the groom’s family, many Rom do it the other way around. We’ve got some more of this family, next week!
In the meantime, happy Halloween to those of you who celebrate it (and aren’t we lucky)! To celebrate, I recommend you read Emily Carroll’s lovely revenge tale His Face All Red or, provided you don’t need to get a lot of sleep tonight, Junji Ito’s nightmare-fuel short manga The Enigma of Amigara Fault? (Don’t forget to read right-to-left.)
Is it just me, or does the Rom patriarch look a lot likeVlad Taltos/Steven Brust? :D
Maybe. I…like drawing a type, I guess. ;)
Oh, I remember His Face All Red! I wonder if you’ve recommended it in the past. I like it – I’ll give The Enigma of Amigara Fault a try.
