My main news this week is that I wrote a big long essay (with pictures and jokes, don’t worry) over on my website about some of the most common mistakes that I think critics and other writers make when they’re reviewing comic books. It’s been fun to watch it make the rounds online, so perhaps you would like reading it as well.

Thank you all for your amazing book recommendations last week! My library holds list was running low and now I’ve got reading ideas for the rest of the year. Allow me to recommend a book I recently read and loved: Wild Life by Molly Gloss. If you like the self-reliant-ladies-negotiating-with-wilderness stuff that’s come up in the comic recently, you’ll probably enjoy this one; rich prose, a storyline not built around empty cliffhangers, and a really remarkable female protagonist.
